In these uncertain times we have decided to introduce a lower priced holiday for our guests.  Hotel Palazzo Brunamonti is a very comfortable hotel situated in the centre of the beautiful town of Bevagna.  Christopher Forsey had a day visit here last year from Montefalco and fell in love with it.  It is on his request that we have included Bevagna in our programme.

Bevagna is a beautiful unspoilt town with many little picturesque side streets, large squares, fountains - plenty of lovely things to paint and draw.  The town has some interesting independent shops and lots of wine bars and restaurants.  There will be a guided tour of the town.  You will learn about Bevagna's interesting history dating back to 80-90 BC.  The city was originally an Etruscan town and then became a Roman municipium called Mevania.  There are remains still existing from this time including a temple, an Amphitheatre and a beautiful mosaic floor which was once a Roman bath.  There will be one day painting in the town of Montefalco with lunch on the town square followed by a guided tour of the Gozzo frescos in the Museum much admired by Andrew Graham-Dixon when he visited Montefalco.  There will also be a visit to nearby Assisi where Saint Francis is buried.  The Duomo consists of three floors, two of which are heavily frescoed by famous renaissance artists such as Giotti.  The town of Assisi is full of wonderful shops, bars and restaurants.  The evening will end with dinner in Ristorante San Francesco overlooking the floodlit Duomo.
